What team within Sales & Marketing are you on, and what do you work on?

I work in the Teleprospecting team with around 15 other lovely individuals. We focus on reaching out to various types of potential prospects to watch a free demo for our products.

When people ask you what it's like to work on Thesaurus's sales team, how do you describe it?

Working in the Thesaurus sales team is great, everyone supports each other where they can and even though we are working from home, you still feel connected with regular team meetings, 1-2-1 sessions with your fellow colleagues and a virtual “water cooler” once a week. It is very target orientated too so perfect if you are competitive like me. I’ll admit, it can be challenging at times trying to convert the colder leads but I love a challenge and the feeling you get after a good day is worth it.

How does Thesaurus help you grow, professionally and personally?

Once a week we have an allocated hour for development where we will watch a course of our choice on LinkedIn Learning and will discuss the points we took from it the following day within our teams to see if there are any courses which are highly recommended. Additionally, we have a Friday team meeting which we all take turns to host giving everyone the confidence to speak freely in front of each other and interconnect. On a personal level, Thesaurus have supported me when I’ve needed time off here and there for appointments being an expectant father.

What's been one of your proudest moments at Thesaurus so far?

One of my proudest moments I must say was the fact that I was in a position to train all the new members of our team after 2 months of working here. It goes to show how brilliant the training programme is and how helpful the people here are.

Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know?

From my experience, Thesaurus is probably the best company I’ve worked for! Everyone is so friendly making you feel right at home from the get-go and very passionate about the company and its products which is hard to come by these days. Also, they really know how to look after their staff with seasonal hampers, support when you need it and various incentives!

What team are you on, and what do you work on?

I am part of the Marketing team where I mainly focus on email campaigns, creating content, managing social platforms and improving processes to make everyone’s lives that bit easier. So basically, all the fun stuff!

When people ask you what it's like to work on Thesaurus's marketing team, how do you describe it?

We are a very close team! The Marketing team is one of the smallest teams in the company but we are growing! Everyone works well together as we all work towards the same goals and input our own creative ideas. Some of the team already worked remotely before the pandemic, so the regular video calling and zoom meetings was nothing new to us when COVID hit.

The Marketing Team work very closely with the Sales Team. They go together like Gin & Tonic. You really can’t have one work effectively without the other! That’s why we end our Fridays with our weekly 'Team Talk' where we all come together to talk about hot topics and individually give our biggest achievement of the week, whether it’s getting a big sale over the line or simply learning something new.

How does Thesaurus help you grow, professionally and personally?

I’ve worked in the company for a couple of years now and I can easily say that no year has been the same. A good thing of course! I would describe myself as a versatile person from jumping into different job roles and projects when needed. I’m always adding to my skill set which motivates me to work on my personal skills outside of work too. Working for Thesaurus is not just a job, but a career as I work towards my long-term goals in Marketing.

What's been one of your proudest moments at Thesaurus so far?

One of my highlights is working at both Irish and UK conferences promoting our wonderful payroll products to other businesses in the market. It’s nice to meet customers face-to-face that you have been dealing with over time. A lot of preparation goes into organising these events months in advance and it’s definitely nice to see all your hard work pay off.

Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know?

COMPANY SECRETS!!

In a world pre-COVID every Friday we would have a big fry-up in the office kitchen! I really miss that smell lingering through the office as lunch time approaches while currently working from home.

The Summer Games. Basically, Game of Thrones between all staff members (joke!). The office is put into random teams where we compete in lots of team-bonding activities such as quizzes and indoor & outdoor games. It’s a great way to get you know your peers from other teams that you may not work with directly.

Free lunches! We have a fully stocked kitchen where the whole team can make and eat their lunch. There is always lots of healthy food but I always sneak in the odd chocolate bar with my cup of tea for a sweet treat. That chocolate drawer is dangerous I tell you!!!

Department: Support | Role: Customer Support Manager (Ireland & UK)

What team are you on, and what do you work on?

I have been working in Thesaurus Software since 2005, I work on the support team with another 23 team members. We offer support across our range of software products for Ireland and the UK.

Working in the support team is great, it takes a real team effort with everyone working together with the same goal. There’s a great team spirit with team members always happy to help each other out.

There is huge variety in the role as we are supporting a range of products, no two days are the same which is great. Testing the software for new features and legislative changes is also an important part of the role of the support team.

Time absolutely flies in this role!!

How does Thesaurus help you grow, professionally and personally?

Thesaurus Software is very supportive of further education, I have completed a number of courses that have been supported by the company. We also have access to LinkedIn Learning which is a great tool for personal and professional development.

What's been one of your proudest moments at Thesaurus so far?

I was involved in the PAYE Modernisation project from early on, attending regular meetings with Revenue. It was great to be involved from the beginning throughout all the discussions. The project was a huge success, I was proud to work for a company that implemented PAYE Modernisation so effectively in two payroll products while maintaining user friendly software.

What are your favourite things about working for Thesaurus?

The company has a genuine interest in their employees, you really feel valued and appreciated.?

Can you tell us about yourself and your time before Thesaurus???

Prior to working in Thesaurus Software, I worked in admin roles and was introduced to payroll. I realised quite quickly that I was passionate about payroll. My favourite subject at school was Maths, I enjoyed performing calculations and working with numbers again.

My role in Thesaurus Software is very much payroll related. I love the problem solving and the constant learning required to keep up to date with legislative changes.

Department: Support | Role: Senior Connect Specialist and Payroll Specialist (Ireland and UK)

What team are you on, and what do you work on?

I am a member of the support team since 2015 when the team was about one third 3 of the size it is now. My role consists largely of all UK and Irish software testing and customer email support for all UK and Irish products. I am involved in the training of all staff on Connect, Connect web content and assisting members of the support team wherever I can. I am involved in our automated testing project too and try to write the odd blog for our website.

When people ask you what?it's?like to work on Thesaurus's Support team, how do you describe it?

It is definitely a challenging, very interesting and diverse role. I love being involved in the testing of our products and the development of Connect. No day is the same and with so much going on the day flies. Within the support team there is a great team spirit where everyone is happy to help each other wherever possible and share knowledge.

Because of Covid and having to work remotely it has strangely made our team a lot closer than before even though we haven’t seen each other in over a year. It is great to be part of such a close, tight-knit team.

What's been one of your proudest moments at Thesaurus so far?

I have been involved in our Connect product since the very beginning in early 2016. From testing the software, being involved in Connect’s development including new features and help guides, to training all staff on this product and assisting all team members with daily questions and queries for Connect. I love being involved with our automated testing project too.

What are your favourite things about working for Thesaurus?

The diversity of the role and the projects I am involved in and had the opportunity to be involved in including our new product Connect in 2016 and software testing for new releases and features.

The great team spirit that we have is one of the best things about working for Thesaurus and the fun times we have including our nights out at the dogs, BBQs, quizzes, Friday Frys, days out at Tayto Park, our annual summer games and Christmas parties.

If you could tell a new employee one thing on their first day, what would it be??

It is hard to remember everyone’s name! It is a great company to work for that values your input and ideas. There is a great team spirit where each team member is valued. It is one of the best companies I have seen to treat staff so well.
